Consumer Adoption of Alipay in Malaysia: The Mediation Effect of Perceived Ease of Use and Perceived Usefulness

Despite a growing trend in m-wallet services Malaysia, the actual level of usage is considered low among all non-cash payment methods. The Malaysian government has taken serious initiative spurring use m-wallets by providing one-off RM30 incentive to eligible Malaysians. As such, it important understand motivations behind examining Alipay, which favoured international, as well markets. This research investigates effects mobile knowledge, personal innovativeness, self-efficacy, convenience, and compatibility on adoption Alipay Malaysia with perceived ease usefulness, mediators. Using importance-performance map analysis (IPMA) Variance Accounted For (VAF), based Partial Least Squares - Structural Equation Modelling (PLS-SEM) 260 respondents, was discovered that usefulness demonstrated high importance improving performance adoption. results also showed direct effect between knowledge. Additionally, shown be an essential mediator influencing impact convenience Alipay. study produced policy recommendations for both wallet providers policymakers how further promote wallets Malaysia.
